No, say it isn’t so! Summer is ending…
As the warmer months were drawing to an end, it seemed necessary to pay homage to the summer that was with a retro, bondi-inspired shoot. Think pastel stripe tees, bold electric blues and lots and lots of greenery.
So, we headed out to our beloved Bondi – the hub of all things vintage and retro inspired, with a couple of surfer boys, a camera, and a whole lotta new threads from our favourite brands.
Our model for the day was the long haired electrician turned surfing/skating nomad from Newcastle, James Mackay. Having travelled back and forth from Bali recently, James had just the right amount of free spirit and he fit our brief perfectly with his salty blonde hair and a tan that would turn any girl green with envy.
Behind the camera was freelance photographer James Ambrose, who is a little salty himself. Having grown up in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs, when he’s not in the ocean James shoots plenty of travel, parties, events, food and is also our resident photographer in the Glue Store Studio.
Also present was Myself, taking care of Creative Direction and Styling, and Creative Content Producers Sophie Brennan and Katherine Clark, who also double as excellent portable clothing rails with just the right amount of creative input.
Having already sussed out the locations with James A, it didn’t take us long to get started. Our first location was in Brighton Boulevarde, North Bondi. With the complimenting baby blue and peachy tones of the apartment buildings, how could you go wrong? From there it was full steam ahead, as we ventured a solid 200m down the road shooting against the pastel hues and leafy courtyards.
We wrapped the shoot within a mere 2 hours, talk about an A-team! The result of the shoot was an epic selection of shots that will leave anyone nostalgic for those balmy summer days spent in the ultimate beachside location.
