Worldwide, more than 23 billion pairs of shoes are produced per year. According to experts, only 1% of all used shoes around the globe are collected and recycled. The other 99% end up in landfill sites or incineration plants. In Australia of the 25 million pairs of sports shoes purchased each year, less than 2% are recycled.
The Australian Sporting Goods Association have taken action to find a solution to recycle worn-out sports shoes. Together with recycling partner, Save Our Soles, they have launched an industry-led sports shoe recycling pilot program. Used footwear is picked up and recycled by them into useful products such as gym mats, reception areas, retail flooring, change room floors and anti-fatigue mats.
Glue Store are putting their best foot forward in partnership with Australian Sporting Goods Association (ASGA) and Save Our Soles (SOS) to divert used footwear from landfill to be recycled and reused. With your help, we can leave a lighter impact on our planet and people.

You'll be making an impact with every pair you donate. All your beloved footwear donations, whether they are slides or sneakers, are taken through an intricate recycling process to create new goods & products and reduce waste.
Recycling Plant
Once donated, your pre-loved footwear is sent to the recycling plant for sorting, breakdown and processing here in Australia.
Components Extracted
Reusable components are extracted, including rubber, leather and fibers at the recycling facility.
New Products
Reclaimed materials are used to manufacture new products such as gym mats, floors and playgrounds.
